Faculty of Arts, MU, cancels first week of classes due to floods

The decision was made by Dean Irena Radová. "Due to the current situation, I have decided to cancel teaching at the Faculty of Arts, MU, in the upcoming week (16-20 September 2024). Although the Faculty is not in immediate danger, I know that many people have to solve other problems than thinking about teaching, and it can be expected that the traffic situation in the Czech and Slovak Republic will not be favourable either," explained the Dean.

This applies also to the placement test at the Department of Czech for Foreigners. It is rescheduled for Thursday, Sept 19, for 8.30 am.

Classes will begin on Monday, 23 September 2024.

Evacuation of dorms at Sladkého and Bří. Žůrků in Brno-Komárov

On Friday, 13 September 2024, students already accommodated will be moved to other dormitories of the MU Residence Halls, or (if this does not cause them further difficulties) they will be asked to go home temporarily.

Postponing of move-ins to all MU dormitories

As a precautionary measure, Masaryk University has postponed check-in to all MU dormitories and asks Czech and Slovak students to postpone their arrival to their dormitories if possible. Detailed information will be emailed to all those wishing to check in during the weekend. There are currently no restrictions on the arrival of international students.

TIP: You can also find up-to-date information on the MU dormitories website. We recommend that you check it regularly.

Teachers will take the flood situation into account

If you are unable to come to Brno, arrange accommodation, attend your first lectures and seminars, or face any other flood-related difficulties, the teaching staff will automatically excuse you from classes for the duration of the emergency.

TIP: You do not need to write to instructors individually, nor do you need to notify the Office for Studies.

First week of university-wide TV classes cancelled

Faculty of Sport Studies MU has decided that the first week of classes (Sept. 16-20, 2024) will be cancelled for all University-wide TV courses. It will be replaced in December.
