Career in the EU Institutions: The EPSO AD5 Application Round Is Now Open
The European Union has launched a major open competition for so‑called “generalists” – administrators (AD5) – for the first time in several years. These are entry‑level positions within the EU institutions, ideal for recent graduates or students in the final year of their university studies.
What the AD5 role involves:
Administrators in the EU institutions contribute to tasks such as:
- preparing and analysing EU policies and legislation,
- implementing EU programmes,
- managing projects,
- communicating with stakeholders and the public.
Who can apply:
- citizens of EU Member States,
- individuals with a completed university degree (Bachelor’s or higher),
- no prior professional experience required,
- knowledge of at least two EU languages (e.g. Czech + English).
Applications can be submitted online via the EPSO portal until 10 March 2026 (12:00).
How the selection process works:
After applications close, candidates take online tests covering:
- logical reasoning,
- knowledge of the EU,
- digital skills,
- a written essay on a European topic.
The tests will take place throughout spring and summer 2026 — leaving plenty of time to prepare.
Where to find support and information:
The Czech Republic offers applicants free information services, including:
- clear guidance on the website TvorimEvropu.cz – Careers in the EU,
- an informational webinar on EPSO tests on 19 February (a recording will be available),
- a WhatsApp community focused on EU careers,
- the option to send individual questions by email (cesiveu@vlada.gov.cz),
- a newsletter with relevant updates.
If you’re interested in working in the EU institutions and want to be part of shaping what happens in Europe, this is the perfect opportunity to take the first step.
