Dear students,
May is here - a time of intense studying, writing term papers and preparing for finals week and exams. The end of the semester is a time of stress for many of us, but it is also an opportunity to show not only our teachers, but also ourselves, how we have progressed in our studies and what new knowledge and skills we have acquired. As a faculty advisor, I know many questions arise during this time. Therefore, I want to address the most common ones and offer you the necessary information and tips.
We all know it - we sign up for an exam, but due to a lack of preparation, we prefer to opt out and sign up later. They say that luck favours the prepared, but remember, according to the MU Study and Examination Regulations, you have up to three attempts to pass the exam. If necessary, you can use them. Please note - when repeating a course, you have only two attempts and must complete the course successfully.
A study plan change can be requested at the end of the first and second semesters of study. It is therefore possible, for example, to add a minor to the major study programme, change the minor study plan or change the combined study to a single-subject study. The MU Study and Examination Regulations now include the possibility of transferring between study programmes, which means you can "swap" a major and a minor, or even switch to a single major in the programme where you have a minor. It is currently being decided which degree programs will allow this change. Therefore, I recommend you keep an eye on the Student Portal or the Bulletin Board in IS - you will find more detailed information there by the end of the spring semester.
For those of you who have a state final exam, I recommend you carefully check that you have fulfilled all your study obligations and registered for the state final exam. I would also like to remind you that some departments and institutes require proof of returned books to be admitted to the state examinations.
The end of the semester is undoubtedly challenging, and I wish you all the strength and patience. But don't forget yourself - even a short break can help you to sort out your thoughts and recharge your batteries. In case of any doubts or difficulties, please do not hesitate to contact the MU Counselling Centre or the MU Faculty of Arts Study Department. Most problems have solutions; you must start solving them in time.
