Switzerland – Scholarship Stays in the Academic Year 2026/2027 under the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships Programme

Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are provided by the government of the Swiss Confederation. The scholarship offer for study stays in Switzerland for students and graduates from Czechia is based on bilateral agreements between the Czech Republic and the Swiss Confederation. The study stay can be carried out at one of the higher education institutions or research centers of the applicant’s choice, provided the institution is eligible for the selected type of scholarship – see “Location of studies – Swiss higher education institutions” on the website of the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SBFI).

Scholarships for Scientific Fields

An overview of the offer is available on the Studuj na VŠ portal. A completed Master’s degree is required. Scholarships are awarded for three types of stays:

  • PhD Scholarships – 12-month study stays within doctoral programs, with the possibility of extension up to 36 months. Only for applicants born after 1990.

  • Research Fellowships – research stays within doctoral programs lasting a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 12 months, without the possibility of extension. Only for applicants born after 1990.

  • PostDoc Scholarships – postdoctoral stays lasting a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 12 months, without the possibility of extension. Only for applicants who completed or will complete their doctoral studies between January 1, 2023 and July 21, 2026.
